Penny's Pink Power Logo Design

The Client

The client was seeking a logo and badge design for Penny's Pink Power, a nonprofit supporting breast cancer research in honor of her late mother.

The Request

  • I was provided with a few examples of desired font styles and word placement from other logos

  • Photos of Penny reflective of her amazing spirit

  • Requested use of pink, black, and/or silver

  • A clean, yet eye-catching design

  • Formatted for use in digital, letterhead, and t-shirt design

The Designs

The Logo

Font: Many of the client's provided samples included a scripted font, I opted for handwritten to capture the elements of Penny's spirit.
Ribbon: In the spirit of the cause, I used the pink breast cancer ribbon as the "p" in Pink, extending the ribbon to highlight "Penny".
The Magnolia: I incorporated the use of the southern magnolia at the client's request based on research she found stating the average magnolia tree takes 10 years to bloom; Penny fought cancer for almost 10 years. The magnolia signifies dignity and according to the Chinese, womanly beauty and gentleness - qualities Penny possessed. Finally, the specific use of the southern magnolia was a nod to Penny's southern roots.

The Badge

Penny as the "i": I made a vector of an image of Penny participating in a breast cancer event.
Color: Because of the client's intended use, I darkened the pink with more red undertones and folded in grey in lieu of the silver in her initial request.
